Because they are fun!

The weekend brought a few nice surprises, and treats.
~ New makeup. Seriously, the next time you’re in the market for new makeup, go to Target and find the ELF brand (stands for Eyes, Lips, Face- cute, right??). Everything was either $1 or $3. And they make everything from concealer to eye liner to lip gloss to mascara. AND it all works well! A great find.
~ Sunday afternoon nap w/ the hubs during a thunderstorm. Even though we were supposed to go to the Bay Hill tournament, it was a wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The Monkey got a nice nap in as well. : )
~ New highlights in the hair. I got bored. That’s what I do. : ) Today I also went and got my hair cut. Its amazing what a little trim does to a lady.
~ Family dinner AT THE TABLE, complete w/ my BFF- and Monkey’s honorary aunt. Pork loin was yummy!
~ Watching Gran Torino. It was not at all what I expected. Have you seen that movie?! Clint Eastwood gets away with saying A LOT. Yikes. Still, it was sad and heartfelt, even though quite racist.
~ Getting plastic Easter eggs ready for Monkey’s school party this week. Ours are filled w/ little plastic toy frogs.
Now, its back to Monday. I woke up to rain and have had the tiniest headache all day. *sigh* Wake me when its Friday! : )
The other evening, when the Hubs was still at work, I was rocking the Monkey as he had his goodnight milk. He was making this little tiny sweet grunting noises as he drank, and it reminded me of when he was a newborn and I was breast feeding.
*Okay, time out. This isn’t going to be gross. I promise. I’m actually one of those people that has very little maturity, and I still giggle at names of certain body parts. So don’t be afraid to read on. Time in!*
It just brought back memories of when Monkey was tiny and brand new. There’s just something about that time as a mom- probably as a dad, too, but how would I know?- that is just…magical. Special. And I only breastfed for maybe two months- long story short, while its extremely important and good for your baby, its also, frankly, a pain in the butt! Or the boob, rather- it was quite gratifying knowing that your newborn depended on YOU still. Once they leave your belly, they become everyone’s, not just yours. And while you want to show them off, let everyone have the chance to love and adore them, you also feel that tinge of sadness that you have to now share.
Alright, is that a lot to get from a little kid grunt? Probably. But this is what motherhood does to you. It makes you crazy, in the best possible way. : )
Well, remember how I said I thought it might rain? Boy, did it ever.
Ignore the nastiness that is our backyard. It’s never been properly laid with sod, so its…well…a mess. ; )
Needless to say, we did not go outside and play today. In fact, we didn’t leave the house today. I didn’t think dragging Monkey in and out of the rain to go to the Dollar Store was really justifiable. All I wanted was ribbon, after all! Tomorrow’s another day, Scarlett- as my Mama says.
Instead, we stayed in. We did laundry- I have to give Monkey credit, since he does help put the laundry in the washer and dryer-, we read books, we colored (and made Easter cards for the family). We watched Kung-Fu Panda. Well…I watched it more than the Monkey. He was surprisingly underwhelmed.
I did get to drink a full cup of coffee! And I made spaghetti for dinner. So, the list went pretty well, all things considered. Especially since rainy days just make me want to lay in bed and nap. Oh, which I also did. ; ) I am woman, hear me roar!!
1. Drink a full cup of coffee (its more of a challenge than I had ever imagined with the Monkey running around!).
2. Laundry. Mine and Monkey’s. And this includes not just washing and drying, but PUTTING IT ALL AWAY. That’s where I have difficulty.
3. Get a SunPass. Its time. I’m sick of scrounging for change.
4. Go to the Dollar Store. I want to get some springy ribbon for my door wreath. We also have paper eggs to hang in the windows that Monkey colored beautifully. : )
5. Nap. I did not sleep too great last night.
6. Decide on something for dinner. And then make it.
7. Get Monkey outside to play again. It might be trickier today, because I think we are supposed to have an afternoon storm.
-There’s probably at least a dozen other things I should/could be doing, but its a stretch that I will get all of THIS list done, so I better leave it at that!! Wish me luck!
The song floated through the sea salt breeze, reaching her ears and
spreading a smile softly over her face. When he saw her that way, he
thought she looked as if she had a sweet secret that the world would never
know. And that made him crave her even more. He stopped her in the
middle of the boardwalk, pulling her into his arms. Among the crowd
they began to sway back and forth'; her black skirt swirled about her
legs, a tangle of colorful necklaces bounced and baubled off one another like magical
laughter. She turned her sea-blue eyes up to his soft brown ones; he was
staring right back at her, and she vowed silently to never forget this night,
this moment, for as long as she lived.
